CHALLENGE Yourself to:

Living a life of empowerment is one of the greatest victories anyone can experience.

There have been countless real life stories about people we know [relatives, friends, neighbors from the old neighborhood] who have shared their experiences of what they would consider to have brought them to their lowest point in life. Yet, for some, they never seemed to manage to get up from out of the "gutter", either because they didn't know how or they didn't believe there was a way out, so they chose to remain in stagnation, being comfortable with where they still are.

You may have experienced circumstances similar to the following...

Perhaps you were often picked on or bullied in school because of your size, or because you were considered to be the smart nerd or "teacher's pet" in class.

Or, perhaps you were someone who was often frowned upon by others of affluence because of the neighborhood you grew up in or the home environment you lived in.

Or, perhaps you were often ridiculed and called names because of your looks, skin color or ethnic heritage.

As a result, perhaps you felt like a "nobody" -- as if there was nothing you could do or it wouldn't matter if you tried -- because, it is what it is.

Even as you fast forward to your adult life today, you may not feel that much has changed regarding how you feel about yourself, how you are treated by others, or your overall station in life.

Perhaps you've had one unfortunate experience after another -- from job loss and financial struggles, to health battles and failed relationships -- from family crises, to loss of loved ones, and so forth.

If so, and you haven't gotten passed some of your experiences from your past [or the present], perhaps you may find your life to be at a standstill, as if you are not getting anywhere or going forward in life...even though there's a slight nudge pushing you from within. It could be that you may not may not realize...the magnitude of empowerment embedded within you.

With everything you've been through, perhaps you may not feel empowered, or you may not know what it means to be empowered.

So, what is empowerment?

Empowerment is defined as, authority or power given to someone to do something; a concept, which is characterized by a move away from a deficit-oriented towards a more strength-oriented perception, can increasingly be found in management concepts, as well as in the areas of continuing education and self-help.

Empowerment is the release of the growing, strengthening and illuminating power from within you.

In case you haven't watched the movie, Bigger, the drama film is based on the life of Joe Weider, who overcomes teenage bullying, poverty and prejudice. Against all odds, he and his brother Ben later in life become fitness entrepreneurs, start a gym movement, discover a body builder named Arnold Schwarzenegger, and create a business empire.

This story is an example of one of countless real life stories throughout history where someone learned how to rise up from the "gutter" of adversity, to live a life with empowerment.

You may be wondering, how is it possible to live a life of empowerment, after feeling stagnated for so long?

Here's the thing. Everyone experiences unfortunate circumstances and different obstacles at varying points in life.

Life all of us.

If you have decided that you are ready to come out of a life of stagnation and desire to live your life with empowerment, there is a way for you to do so, starting now.

Here are 3 valuable principles you can implement to live your life with empowerment:

Looking back on your life, perhaps you can recall times when you were let down by extenuating circumstances or wrongfully treated by others, and you probably felt like this was your fate, believing everything that can go wrong will go wrong. You may often focus your attention on brooding about what happens to you, rather than learning from the lessons of your experiences.

This may sound cliche, however the first phase to living your life with empowerment begins with acceptance of what you have experienced so you can forgive yourself and others during this process. There's no point in trying to figure out why someone else did what they did that may have affected or impacted your life, unless they choose to be honest with themselves and with you by telling you the truth. However, you can be honest with yourself about how you feel emotionally. From there, take time to process what you believe you could have done differently about how you handled a situation or dealt with an individual.

For example, could you have spoken up or stood up for yourself? Could you have chosen to take a different course of action? What would you do differently if you were to find yourself in a similar situation going forward?

Learning the lessons from your life experiences is a process. Have an objective to focus on what you believe is the appropriate thing to do now that can propel you forward, so you won't feel like your life is caged in like a hamster on a wheel. Concentrate your effort toward making progress, so you won't find yourself doing the same things -- making the same mistakes -- making the same unwise choices -- over and over again.

If you are constantly confused or having difficulty sorting things out in your mind, perhaps becoming part of a support group or getting professional help is recommended.

If you have had a devastating experience in life, perhaps you may be too embarrassed or ashamed to share what you've been through with others. You may not feel like doing routine, everyday tasks in the privacy of your home, or interacting with the outside world. When you are passive about your life, it can be difficult to feel empowered.

In order to live your life with empowerment, start doing the opposite of whatever you believe made you feel stagnant in your life based upon the lessons you've learned from your experiences.

For example, if you identified certain bad habits [such as substance abuse, laziness or lying] were the culprit of you experiencing job loss or a failed relationship, then make the decision to replace unfruitful habits with habits that can lead you toward having a beneficially productive lifestyle.

You do not need to lay in bed all day with the covers over your head. Daily, it's important to maintain good oral hygiene and grooming habits. Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water. Get some exercise, fresh air and sunshine. Surround yourself with people who appreciate you and have your well-being and best interests at heart.

Live your life with purpose. Learn new skills. Further your education. Read books. Study the success stories of how others have overcome obstacles in their life.

Recognize right opportunities and connections with others at every appointed time...and seize each moment.

Change your mindset and you can change your life.

If you have gone through most of your life feeling like no one has ever taken you seriously, that certain people manage to find fault with everything you say and do, and that your life has no measure of significance, then you may not believe you have the ability to make an impact in anyone else's life. For every experience you have overcome in life, someone else may be going through something similar right now, trying to figure out how to overcome. You may be just the person who can provide them with a solution to their problem. It is not by coincidence that you may encounter someone reaching out to you for a shoulder to cry on or to be a sounding board.

And this is not about you haphazardly blabbing all of your personal business openly to others at random. Rather, this is about you paying attention...being in tuned to the moments...the times when you are led in the pathway of others, and recognizing what you have to offer that can add value to their life in the appropriate way, at the right time.

Perhaps you are positioned to give someone an encouraging word or sound advice if they feel their world is falling apart, and they believe there is nothing else for them to live for.

Perhaps you are positioned to give someone a book to read or lead them to an online resource that can give them a breakthrough on the next step they can take in furthering their career.

Perhaps you are positioned to share your wisdom and experience with a newlywed couple who wants to know the secret to a lasting and loving marriage.

If you find that others are reaching out to you more often than the norm, perhaps this may be an indication for you to be resourceful and be "one to many."

To live your life with empowerment means that you are free to provide to others ways or strategies on how they can successfully overcome similar obstacles you've been through without them having to experience taking the "long road" or the magnitude of "heavy lifting" that perhaps you did.

Perhaps you are positioned to start your own support group to help others ease their heartache and emotional pain.

Perhaps you are positioned to start your own business with products, programs and services that can provide meaningful solutions to inconvenient problems that others our experiencing in their personal or professional life.

Perhaps you are positioned to create a blog, or provide other forms of content, knowledge and information that can help others live a better quality of life.

Perhaps you are positioned to teach strategies for others to learn how to legitimately create wealth and make more money doing what they love that will enable them to have the freedom to live the life they truly desire.

Do you see the possibilities? Do you see how others can benefit when you choose to empower yourself first?

Unfortunately, you may face some haters...others who may become jealous or envious of your efforts along the way. If so, this experience may remind you of your past experiences, and why you may have felt like a "nobody" since the beginning of your childhood. Do not let naysayers stop you from making a positive impact...continue to persevere.

Remind yourself of the empowerment that resides within you, and how valuable it is for you to share it with the world. You matter. Your life matters to the lives of others. The lives of others matter to other people.

To live your life with empowerment means to value your life and what you have to offer others in return. To withhold the wealth of empowerment that resides within you would be a disservice to others.

Empowerment is a process that begins from within. It's about making the decision to not allow your past experiences or current circumstances hinder your progress. Instead, you make the most of what you've learned and utilize it to your advantage in a way that resonates with you order to benefit your life and add value to the lives of others without bringing physical, mental or emotional harm to yourself or anyone else.

Be reminded of these 3 valuable principles you can implement to live your life with empowerment:

1. Learn the lessons from your life experiences

2. Take inspired action to implement what you have learned

3. Add value to the lives of others

To live your life with empowerment, you choose to live your life with authority...and on your own terms. Instead of living in the past, you are free from your past. Instead of being stuck in the "gutter" of life, you are moving forward in life. Allow the lessons you've learned from all of your experiences to be utilized favorably on your behalf. In doing so, you will find yourself living the abundant lifestyle you deserve.
